Standard and Poor 500 indexStandard & Poor 500 (S & P 500) is a most commonly used measure  of the US economy and US stock market.It consists of 500 largest companies listed on the New York Stock exchange. Financial experts consider it a better index than the Dow industrial average and NASDAQ composite index, mainly because of its diversity and complexity.

 

 

Standard & Poor created and introduced this index in the year 1953 to measure the US stock market and economy in a better way.Standard & Poor is a renowned American financial company offering different types of financial  services to its clients.
