James Dimon is a well-known business administrator of America, also known as “Jamie Dimon”. He was born on 13th March, 1956, in New York. Currently, he is the chairman, president, and CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of “JP Morgan Chase”. JP Morgan Chase is one of the big four banks of US.
Previously, he was among the Board of Directors of New York Federal Reserve, and was known as a Class A director. His name was included in the list of 100 most authoritative and persuasive persons, in Time magazine of 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2011.
In All-American Executive Team Survey conducted from 2008 to 2011, he was among the best CEO of Institutional Investor. In fiscal year 2011, he was named as the CEO of the year, and he was the one who was receiving salary of 23 million dollars which was the highest salary among the other CEOs in United Stated. In 2013, he received 20 million dollars additional as a compensation for his work performance. On Dimon’s compensation, bank said that “during Dimon’s conservancy, the Company has become able to secure its controlled infrastructure and operations. The company has invigorated its key businesses with the focus of continuously improving the leadership competences at all levels.”
He was specialized in psychology and economics from Tufts University. During his vacations in graduation, he started his work with Shearson. After the completion of his degree, he served his two years as a management consultant before getting enrolled in Harvard Business School. He graduated in 1982 as a Master of Business Administration. Weill convinced Dimon to join as an assistant at American Express. Although, Dimon’s salary was not much as compared to the other investment banks but Weill assured him that he would have fun.
In 1985, Weill left American Express during power conflict, so Dimon also followed him. They both took over financial company based on consumer finance with the help of control data. Dimon was designated as a CFO (Chief Financial officer) in the company. In 1988, Dimon and Weill both form the Citigroup, world’s largest financial services. After spending ten years at Citigroup, Dimon left this group in 1998. Dimon was asked to resign by Weill during a weekend departure of executive.
Dimon give resignation from the First Chicago Corp. as a CEO. Dimon joined as a CEO of Bank One, ranked as a fifth largest bank of nation, in 2000. In 2004, Dimon became president and COO (Chief Operating Officer) of after the acquisition of Bank One by JPMorgan Chase. In 2005, he was named as a CEO of JPMorgan Chase. In 2006, he was named as a Chairman of the board.
Under his leadership, JPMorgan Chase has become the leading bank of US and as a No.1 credit card provider in the US.
Brendan Wood International named Dimon as one of “The TopGun CEOs”, in 2009. During the period 2011- 2012, he served as an Executive Committee Chairman of the Business Council.
Dimon was portrayed by Bill Pullman and Michael Brandon in the films “Too Big To Fail” and The Last Days of Lehman Broters respectively.
